New Suspension with 3-Phase System
At Koetsenbouw De Laat, we are increasingly being asked for a carriage suitable for dressage, cones and marathon driving. For this purpose, we have long offered a solution that allowed the track width of our marathon carriage to be adjusted. Although this system worked well, it was relatively complex and time-consuming to convert.
We felt it could be simpler.
That is why we revisited the challenge. The result is a completely new system that allows the track width to be changed in less than five minutes, without compromising the handling and driving characteristics of the carriage.
New Suspension System
During development, new insights led to the creation of a completely new suspension system, which forms the foundation of this new concept.
Using 3D design, simulations, and extensive field testing, we evaluated and optimized multiple solutions. While our original goal was to create a simpler track width adjustment system, we also succeeded in further improving the stability of the carriage.
The result is a carriage that retains all the proven characteristics of our marathon carriages while offering even greater stability.
We have obtained a patent for this innovative suspension system.
Applications
The new suspension system is fitted to all of our new marathon carriages. The track width conversion system is available for:
- Single pony and single horse
- Pair pony
Using track width extensions, the standard track width can be increased from 125 cm to 138 cm. This creates a versatile carriage suitable for both dressage and marathon driving, while the conversion can be completed in less than five minutes.
