New: The Single Marathon Carriage
Over the past winter, we at Koetsenbouw de Laat have been working hard on developing a completely new marathon carriage for single driving. With smart adjustments and a refreshed design, we are excited to introduce both horse and pony versions. This new model combines a lightweight construction with enhanced stability and comfort, making it ideal for passionate drivers. In addition, a new pair model will be available in early 2022!
Horse and Pony Versions
Both the horse and pony versions of the new marathon carriage have been designed with performance and ease of use in mind:
- Horse version: weighs just 175 kg (including the burry).
- Pony version: weighs just 165 kg (including the burry).
- The large wheels – 80 cm in diameter for horses and 75 cm for ponies – ensure a smooth ride, reducing strain on the horse.
Improvements in Stability and Riding Experience
The rear wheel suspension has been completely redesigned, significantly improving stability and handling. We’ve also put a strong focus on comfort:
- The seat cushion is fully adjustable to your personal preferences.
- Both the seating position and backrest can be adjusted, ensuring comfort for the driver at all times.
From Practice: Saskia Siebers on the New Carriage
Champion driver Saskia Siebers has extensively tested the new single marathon carriage and is thrilled with the results. “I’m absolutely delighted with it,” says Siebers. “The carriage is 50 kg lighter than my previous one, and you really feel the difference. Axel, my horse, had already cleared a hill obstacle before I even noticed! The combination of the light design and stability makes a world of difference when driving.”
